I got this stuff off our friend Ben, he was selling some blanks on the WWF a while back, lovely stuff, nice to turn despite its hardness.Choice slice of Gidgee Brad, great use of the sapwood. That timber is tough stuff mate with a real hardness in the upper scale.
Select grade to create with and you nailed it.
Peter.
Thanks Jim.Another beauty.
Thanks Mark, glad you like.Beautiful pen. Wonderful photos. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Jay. I like to shape my blanks to compliment whichever kit I am using.Beautiful pen. I've never made a sierra but I've seen many where the shape of the barrel doesn't quite flow with the shape of the hardware to my eye. You nailed it perfectly IMO, well done.
Thanks for that Peter. I haven't had contact with Ben for a while now, I hope he is keeping well.
Thanks for the update Peter, glad things are going well for him. Thanks for that Peter. I haven't had contact with Ben for a while now, I hope he is keeping well.
Ben and Celia have a newish boy he is 9mths old all doing well and happy.
Peter.
Thanks Mate. Gidgee is one of our Acacias, usually only available in small quantities here, not really a commercially available timber due to the small size of the logs and difficult recovery of the timber.Beautiful pen and blank, I'd never heard of Gidgee before.
