According to the labeling the Schmidt 9000M is a ballpoint, but does write very smoothly; not as wet as a gel.
SCHMIDT® easyFLOW 9000
I have found several excellent Parker Style gels, like them Quink, Mont Verde, etc. as mentioned above.
My experience has been similar to Don's. I have some gels write for months uncapped, and others dry-out after a few days. I have not been able to draw any conclusions as to why. I have had the same experience regardless of the brand when it comes to gels.
Slightly off-topic. I "suffered" the same with the Schmidt 5888 and 6040 fine liner rollerball refills. Unless I return the cap to them immediately, they will dry-out in a few days (even though they are labeled non-drying).
I accidently bought G2 refills from Wal-mart, then read about you guys/gals using them for rollerball refills (not as a Parker style BP replacement - too long), and have had the most success (last long, no/less drying out, more forgiving without the cap, and about 40% less expensive) and an excellent writing experience.
I actually started giving my clients the 5888 with a G-2. The 5888 just looks better and if they are going to spend X for a pen, I don't mind adding another 85 cents for a G2.
Please forgive my imposing on your thread. If someone finds a decent Cross-refill from any manufacturer, I would like to know.
Thank you!
