A lady at work passed away from breast cancer last year, and we had a memorial for her yesterday. Debbie was greatly loved by all, so I organized a fundraiser in her honor. I made three pens, we auctioned one and held a raffle for the other two. We will donate all the proceeds to METAvivor, her favorite charity, in her name. I made an Arete rollerball with a dyed pink tamarind blank; a Wall Street II with a Pink Lady blank; and a Mini Bolt Action keyring pen with a Pink Lady blank. The fundraiser was successful beyond my wildest imaginings. High bid on the Arete was $500, and we got well over $2500 from the raffle. Like I said, Debbie was well loved, and the success indicates that. Plus, the company will match all the donations, so we'll be giving over $6000 to METAvivor! It was definitely bittersweet though. I am overjoyed by the generosity of our employees, but incredibly sad at the reason behind the fundraiser.
