I just had to share this. A while back I bought enough historic wood from the Robert Frost Farm Foundation to make 6 pens and boxes. I was given a discount under the condition I would give 1 pen and box back to the foundation, which I did. I also documented the making of the boxes which can be found in the archives under barrel hinge box making. Pictures can be found there. This past week I recieved this email:
Hello Richard,
The Woodcrafter Fair was yesterday, and it was a huge success. The auction
raised around $3400. I thought you would be happy to know that your pen and
box fetched the highest price ($320) of any single item. You also might like
to know that it went to a person whose daughter is working on her Masters
thesis on Robert Frost.
Thanks again, very much, for your generous support of the Frost Farm!

I also recieved an email from someone who had been to the fair who also wanted to purchase a pen and box which I sold for $250.00. Yea me!
