Red & Black Ebonite on a modified El Grande. Removed as much as the metal as I could. The center band metal ring removed. The metal ring at the nib end removed. The metal ring at the posting side removed. Body and cap each weighs 15 grams. Total weight of the pen is 30 grams.

That's gorgeous. Do all of the real pen guys weigh their pens?

Contest Entry #7

3 wood segmented pen, Cocobolo, Curly Maple, Walnut. All pieces rotated and glued. This pen was a lot of fun to make and taught me a lot about segmenting and fit and finish.

That is just plain awesome! My wife teaches music, I may have to see if she has any instruments falling apart.

Nice entry.

I really like the clip! I would love to talk with whoever made this pen.

It sure would be nice if the pen maker would pm me so we could talk about the details of the clip, of course I would keep your identity private during the contest.

stained glass and stained glass blank are not the same thing. It's not real glass, it's faux glass, as in little squares of different colors of acrylic mixed in resin.

Contest Entry #11

Description : This is a genuine Vic Firth Corpsmaster Ralph Hardimon edition marching snare drumstick that is now a roller ball pen.

While the balance is no longer correct for playing, it is still a playable drumstick, and a functional pen!

There is just a bit over 1 day remaining to get your entry in. There are some great entries so far. If you have been waiting to finish or submit your entry, now is the time to be doing so. Thanks to all. My judging panel will have their work cur out for them in narrowing this field down to the finalists.

Many great entries. Well done everyone. I'm very inspired and look forward to some conversations with some of the craftsmen/women of these fine writing instruments.
