One of you out there has come VERY close. An answer was given that is almost correct, but one of the four actually has five sub-species, and that is the last answer I am looking for.
However, if no one gets all four TOTALLY correct, then the person who got it ALMOST correct will win this week.

A side example is if someone had answered sumac, and the real answer was african sumac or staghorn sumac as there is a difference in these woods. btw, sumac is NOT the answer, and both of those woods turn nice, but care needs to be taken with the staghorn due to the extreme difference in early and late wood densities, where african is a very consistant turning wood

Also, please do remind me that when looking at some of the european names, they do coincide with american ones. once again, this is not another clue.
