I was at a garage sale yesterday and missed the deal of my life on a new lathe, but I saw this scroll saw in the corner. She wanted $250, but I was still pretty bummed out about missing the lathe.
I went back today to see if she still had it. It wouldn't turn on, so I got it for $120. I brought it home, discovered a few gross of blades and some extra blade holders in a jar under the table.
I gave it the old manual start and it ran just fine. I pulled the cover off the starting capacitor and found a loose connector. Fixed that and it works like a champ.
As it turns out, a $1200 scroll saw is more than 10x better than a $100 scroll saw.
