Well, I finally stuffed a pine cone in the pot today to see what I could do with it. Not sure what kind of cone it is, picked it up off the street while walking the dog the other day. This was really fun, I'll be doing more of these for sure. I really like the pattern, reminds me of wooden snake scales.

Cast in pearlized PR. Can't really see the pearl in the pictures, mostly gold and bronze with some macro pearl thrown in.

Kit is a satin gold Carbera (Berea) from Bear Tooth Woods.

I think the cone was about 5 - 5 1/2 inches long and maybe 2" around. It was fully opened up. I just trimmed it square on the bandsaw, cast it in resin, drilled it, glued in the tube, and turned it. I think I'd go bonkers trying to glue all those little things onto a tube! Not that I'm not already bonkers. [:D]
