After seeing DeStrangeFarts one piece today, I decided it was time to try my own. As is with most first time projects, what was on the drawing board is not what you see. I had every intention of recessing the clip. Well the blank was not large enough to start with, so by the time it was round there was no recessing anything. I was going to make a matching finial, and I still may. This one screws on/off so I can easily unscrew it and screw on a new one. I have a consecutive piece or wood cut so that isn't a problem.

Kit was an old copper Funline that you have to cut the tenon on. I don't really care for the kit so it was perfect to donate some parts. Wood is a piece of cedar I picked up from my sisters house in Spicewood, TX when I was there last December. Finish is a half dozen coats of CA.

I think I am going to send this to my nephew as a thank you for helping me scavenge for wood.

Took the photo on an envelope on the coffee table!

Added a finial

I whipped up a finial last night. I like it but the wife isn't sure about the shape.
