The black and gold one is the old Irish oak bog 3,000 - 5,000 years old This wood came from Ireland off of eBay also. I saw the same pen for sale this past summer in a craft show in WVa for a good sum of money. The oak is stained black from the tannic acid in the peat over the thousands of years
The ancient golden kauri is also stated to be 30,000 - 50,000 years old from bogs in northern island of new Zealand. Rhodium Plated. I picked the wood up off of eBay as scrap lumber pieces that I cut out for pen blanks. I was provided a certificate of authenticy dating that the material had been tested placing the age of the ancient kauri trees at an old age.
