After Louis Bryant done the demo on how to make a box with a lid, I decided to take a shot at making one. It is made out of a piece of Mahogany scrap that the local milling shop threw out. I am pleased with how it turned out. It was a learning curve for me, as I used a glue block and double sided tape. I did cheat on doing the inside, I drilled it with a forstner bit. I left the wall thickness at 1/4 inch. I also left the inside of the top flat only because I forgot to do it before removing it from the glue block. I also left a small hole in the bottom. Not perfect but I like it. It has a couple of coats of CA/BLO on it.

Great first box! You have a pretty good idea what you need to do to improve, so I look forward to your next boxes!

Nice Job on your lidded box.You need to check out a scroll chuck so you can eliminate the hole from mounting.I got a psi barracuda chuck for small turnings and it comes with all the jaw sets you will need.I can do more with it than my nova.
