First Jr Gent

This is my first non 7mm attempt. I have no idea what kind of wood this is. It was a natural unstabilized blank that was extremely hard. I got it as part of a grab bag from Rockler. I really like the way it turned out, and if anyone has any ideas what kind of wood this is please let me know. I would love to make more like it. The kit is a Smitty's gold TI Jr Gent 1.

Good job on the pen. Its not amboyna burl. Could be a maple. Hard to tell for me though. Looks like you did pretty good on the finish as well.
