This is the first time I have ever cast PR and the first time I turned a snake skin. It is a rattlesnake killed in southern Ky. It was a real learning experience but I hope to get better.

I wish my first had turned out that nice. You're off to a great start and will learn from each try. Snake skins are my favorite non-wood material to use for pens.
Do a good turn daily!

Looks great for a first go. Those are some big honkin scales!

If you mill the end of the blanks, then drip a tiny bit of thin CA where the skin and resin meet, it may close in the areas at the end of the blanks that turned grey on you. Don knows the exact process. Been so long since I've gotten to make one I've forgotten.
