Last week I decided to give bowls a try, so I picked up one of the Nova G3 Chucks that woodcraft had on sale. I had a nice block of poplar around that had a decent streak of sapwood going through it and I thought it would make a nice bowl. It was a learning experience but in the end a lot of fun. I didn't go crazy with the finish, it's just sanded and then about 5 coats of wood turners finish.

My wife loves it, she's already claimed it to store her rings in overnight :)

Looking forward to more, C&C welcome!

Very nice! Aren't bowls fun? I made my first not long ago. I have 4 bowl blanks waiting in the wings for some warmer weather. Gets cold in the garage.

Thanks for the comments all, I appreciate it :)

I think for my next one I'm going to try a shallower bowl just to do something different. I have a nice piece of square maple burl that's too short to do a pen out of but should be just perfect for this.
