I finally decided to try making a pipe. The stummel is made of cherry and the stem is made of an unknown wood. My objective was to draught hole line up with the bottom of the smoking chamber and I accomplish my objective. The stem is narrow due to being a little aggressive with the bandsaw. One thing I learned about pipe making is it takes a lot of sanding. I did not sand the pipe as much as I should have but a pipe with a flawless finish was not my objective. I will save the pipe to see if I am making any progress in the future.

Stummel... I learned a new word today!

Very nice work on that pipe! I can imagine that the sanding is a challenge with all those curves. What finishes are available on pipes? Which did you choose?

Dave, I used tripoli, white diamond, and wax.
