First attempt at charcoal sketching

Don't ask me why, but I suddenly got the urge to try a charcoal pencil sketch on one the the many tree fungi (conks) I have laying around the house. I can't take artistic credit as I used an image in a book for my "model". At least it wasn't so bad that it scared me away from trying some more in the future. The conk itself is about 5" wide by 3" tall. I kind of like the medium (conk-art). Now, if I only had a little talent and artistic vision.....
