Aluminum is MUCH harder than wood or plastic. Tiny shavings and frequent sharpenings mean it took a loooong time. I have carbide metal lathe bits but they didn't do much better than my old carbon steel gouge.
The next one should be faster now that I've got the technique down. A little different than wood, that's for sure.
Nib end is too fat and the hole is off centered. I reseated the mandrel several times, but I think I may have bent it getting the hang of turning this stuff.
