I wanted to see how the stabilized flame box elder blanks I ordered from woodturningz turn and they really turn nice and even without sanding the blank is very smooth. I was setting down while turning and for me sitting and turning is not very easy so I just turned the blank round. As most of you know I use WTF on all my pens since it give a nice warm feel to the wood. Will WTF work on stabilized wood? Thanks

Dan, I have used it on stabilized hackberry and stabilized maple and it worked fine. Gives you a shine without the slick feel.

Thanks Ray. I'm really looking forward to being able to get started on the pens, The blanks I turned today really looks great. The only problem I found is that the bits of shaving stick all over the lathe and when I tried to sweep up the ones that fell to the floor they just float away.
