I picked up a log a while back. The guy cutting the tree said it was a Ficus tree. I only took one short log because it looked bland. When I got home I put it in a plastic trash pail and covered it. Today I took it out, scraped some of the mold off it, and cut it into pen blanks. It is not bland anymore. Streaked with different colors and has some spalting. Very pretty. My question is has anyone turned any Ficus and if so what do you think of it? It is a very common tree here in Florida.
