I went into Woodcraft today to pick up some blanks and maybe a 10mm bit for the ultra cigar kit. To my surprise the bit was $24. Needless to say I did not purchase that thing. It didn't look like gold but it sure was priced like it![:0]

I bought a 10mm bit from woodcraft. They have a cheaper alternative I can't remember the name but it was still 16.99.I asked the guy at woodcraft for a bit and he handed me a 24.00 bit like you r talking about.I asked him if there was anything cheaper and then he showed me the cheaper bit and it has worked fine.

Steve,
The Colt brand 10mm is only $4.99 at WC. It is not as good as the Norsemen but it does work well. They keep the Colt bits in the woodboring dept. with all of the forstner bits etc, so pen makers do not realize that there is a cheaper alternative. My manager would not let me put some of the more common ones for penturning in the pen area because of the higher cost and he made more profit.[:(!] Go figure. Anyway I just thought that I would mention it if you are in a hurry and need it right away.

Steve you can still buy a norseman from fairburyfasteners. Sadly you missed out on the group buy I just sent in. The 10mm Norseman was under $5.00.

At http://www.arizonasilhouette.com/Drill_Bits.htm its $7.50 plus shipping.

at http://www.beartoothwoods.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=35_36&products_id=39 Ernie has a 10mm not sure what brand is only $5.00 plus shipping.

Just a couple of places you can look at.

You might consider to buy one of HF large sets. And stop buying individual bits. Then measure the tubes and find a bit that will work.

I have the HF set. I also purchased a set of metric bits:1mm to 13mm in .5mm steps. They came from a local industrial supply and cost $35 if I remember correctly. The only other bits I've had to purchase were the ones for the large pens. I love these two sets of bits.
Do a good turn daily!
