I got home from work a couple weeks ago and found some elm logs beside my sawmill. A dew calls later and the culprit was found. He brought them as a gift. Well here is the first result of the wood so far. It is aprox. 10" tall and has a walnut finial. The finial was colored with a sharpie. The hollow form is finished with General finishes wood turners finish and wet sanded after and a quick buff. Enjoy, Russell

Charles, sorry it took a while to get back to you. It has 10 coats of finish on it. I sand it back after the first coat, it usually raises the grain. Then after 4-5 coats I knock it back with 0000 steel wool. After 4-5 more coats I wet sand with 1200 then buff.

Marc I did NOT use carnuba after the buff. It really doesn't take that long to do the finish. The main wait time was between the last coat and the wet sand. That was only 2 hours. Total time was 3-4 hours and 2 of that was just hanging out. Thanks for the comments.
