My church sponsored an Octoberfest today. Beautiful weather, great music and food, good crowd. Sales? Pitiful. Did not sell one pen. Sold one duck call. Did not sell one vase. I did give away a dogwood European with cross clip to the brother of our Pastor, he also a Lutheran Pastor who had his home and church wiped out by hurricane Katrina in New Orleans. Made a trade with a knifemaker. A deer grunt call and a European walnut and antler pen for a really nice knife. We both think the other guy got 'took', so I guess it was a good trade. Folks are funny at sales. One lady picked up one of my vases made from Osage Orange and said it was the most beautiful thing she had ever seen and would "give anything" to have it. Then she looked at the TEN DOLLAR [:0] price tag and dropped it like it was on fire. Pens got lots of compliments, I'll be taking those to the bank. I dunno problem with the pen thing in my part of the country. Slims were $20.00, Europeans $35 & $45, Barons $45 to $60. I think to sell they should have been $1.00, $2.00 and $3.00 respectively. Oh, well.
