Ebonite Finish?

What is the best metho for sanding and finishing Ebonite?

I just use 3 different grades of rubbing compound and finish with wax. So far so good.

I have the same question as posed by Phil, and am in the midst of my first ebonite attempt. Any additional tips out there? Thanks

Here's how I do it -- similar to acrylics and resins. Just be sure not to build up too much heat. So it really helps to get a good finish right from the tool, so you can avoid low-grit sanding and heat buildup.

1. Turn with skew.
2. Wet-sand with 400 & 600
3. Wet-sand with 2400 -> 12,000 micromesh
4. Buff on buffing wheel with 2 stages of plastic compound

Like Joe said, but I do not always wet sand. Another good thing to use after sanding and buffing is Semichrome. It is what we use on vintage Ebonite so it is safe and does a great job.
