Here is one last pic for the night, I promise!

This was a test to see if I could get the stabilzing resin to penetrate a bowl blank. The blank started out as a 7.25" x 7.25" x 3.5" piece of spalted hackberry. It was not punky. I used burgundy colored dye so I could see how well the resin penetrated. I was doubtful it would go all the way through but was pleasantly surprised!

The black line was a save! There was a pretty large crack that the stabilizin resin filled somewhat but when I went to turn it, it blew apart while hollowing. I simply picked up the piece and used black epoxy to glue it back on and finished the turning.

Nothing fancy, just a basic bowl with a lacquer finish.

Curtis, great looking bowl, great save I think the line adds some character. You have posted some very good looking pens also. Glad to see you making time to do some turning.
