Does anyone reconize these blanks

I'm trying to get my shop better organized before winter so that I can spend more time in it turning pens. I've collected blanks in boxes over the years and I'm just now trying to put them away. I have two different blank types and I do not know what kind of wood they are. I may have gotten them from someone here in a swap or bought them as a "box full of blanks"...I honestly don't remember...unfortunately.
So...does anyone know what kind of wood blanks these are?

A well sanded end grain shot of each type might help .

They look like they may be persimmon to me, are they relatively soft?

I would've guessed spalted hackberry...but it's very much just a guess.
