Will Acetone dissolve clear powdercoating, I have some cartridge pens I won, and they are powder coated, but I don't like the Idea of gluing the tube in with CA, and when I solder the tubes in it discolors the powdercoating, I'll re coat them after I solder the tubes into the cartridges. I fcan strip it off with 3M Scotchbrite wheels, but it takes a l9ng time, and I still have a nasty little bit right where the bullet is pressed into the brass.

Ken,
I have removed the PC with an acetone soaked rag. Put a little on, wipe off. repeat as necessary.
OR, just immerse the cartridges in acetone for about 10-15 minutes, remove and wipe dry. Repeat if necessary.

Most powder paints will soften when exposed to acetone (although some don't). Whenever I need to strip a powdercoated cartridge, I soak it in a can of acetone for 10 minutes. The coating will then rub off. A little 0000 steel wool removes the discoloration caused by the powdercoating process.

Eric
