Desert Ironwood

Sometimes it is worth it to sharpen several times just to turn a pen. This is the hardest wood I have turned. A friend described it as "Harder than the hinges of hell." Being not much familiar with said hinges, I will agree that this is one tough customer. I took the macro shots just to show the subtle figure in this regal wood.
