This is one of six I finished today. The desert ironwood is one of my favorites. It a bit difficult to work with, but it makes a nice pen. As usual any comments or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks for looking.

Thanks everyone. Yes, a lot of the desert ironwood has very dramatic grain, I really like it. The pen also displays a lot of chatoyance which doesn't show in the photos. In answer regarding the finish, I finish all my pens in lacquer.

It is hard and dense, and you have to go really slow when drilling. It heats up very quickly, and if you go the least bit too fast it will crack or blow apart on you. How do I know that? Well, I just do.[:(]
