Okay, I know this has been approached before but I can't seem to find what I am looking for searching as of now.

I have a small apartment in a basement of a house with a cat and dog. I need to figure out the best and yet inexpensive dust collection setup.

I have a small 2' deep X 4' X 5' high grow tent I am going to put my lathe in. With my pets, I am concerned about the noise level of a shop vac running.

The tent will confine the chips and dust pretty well, but I need to keep the noise down for the pets and the landlords.

Besides a shop vac, what else could I use?

You can build a plywood box lined with carpet/foam rubber to house the shop vac in. Of course you cut a hole for the hose and another to vent the exhaust. The more lining, the quieter it will be.

Can't remember the name right now but one of the European models is supposed to be very quiet. I'll be checking it out when the one I'm using now dies.
