My father has been gone for 36 years. I still miss him terribly at times. He was a professional wood turner for many years mostly working with Myrtlewood on the Oregon coast. So fathers day morning I decided to finish a pen I had started that used a piece of what is called Tiger stripe myrtle. It was a favorite grain pattern of his and quite rare. He loved to work with it. Long story short it was a moving experience as I felt he was there looking over my shoulder as I finished the pen. I think he would love to see the tools and materials we have at our disposal today that were not around "back in the day".
