Cut-offs from Pen Blanks

I always saved my cut-off but never really found a use for them. I decided to make some fridge magnets. Here are some that I did. I made a jig and these only take about 8 minutes each to make. Thanks for looking.

Nice! Have you considered cutting them in half, lengthwise, double your quantity and then apply the flat rolled magnet? Quick easy sales I'd bet!

What is the jig you made Dan?

The way I did mine was drill in with a 1/2" Forster bit to the depth of the magnet, then the (whatever size is right for 3/8"-16) drill bit for the bottle stopper mandrel. Thread it right on and make it round and smooth. Finish as desired, remove from mandrel, glue in rare earth magnet, put on fridge.

What is the jig you made Dan?

I chucked a 2" cube of walnut and rounded the one end down to about 1/2". Drilled a hole in the center of the jig all the way through and put a screw in from the back side that sticks out about 1/2". I make the magnets like hard hat said but use my jig.

Thanks for sharing the jig idea, Dan. That would be a good way to make Christmas Tree ornaments too.
