Anybody ever taken the cursed soft bushings from the suppliers and had replicas ground out of very hard tool steel at a machine shop? Seems to me that it might be cost effective if you do a lot of the same pens.
I thought the same thing about the soft bushings but I decided to use calipers instead. I'm glad I went that route because I discovered that some of the bushings were slightly off of the finished dimentions of the corresponding metal part that they were designed to match. Using calipers to measure the metal part first and then using that measurement as the finished dimention of the wood ensures that the fit is dead on.
