I'm finding Crosscut especially when not stabilised tricky to drill. Many times live got to go up a size drill bit

That really looks nice.

Rather than stabilize crosscut blanks, I generally coat the walls of the drilled hole with a liberal application of thin CA to strengthen those inside fibers. Let it cure for a day or two, then redrill the hole.
