In this thread http://www.penturners.org/forum/f28/craft-coat-dipping-method-128657/ I posted photos of blanks that were dipped in Craft Coat. I wasn't real pleased with the results. Although the blanks had that gloss sheen I was looking for, it seemed that the finish was too brittle. I used the method that I use when dipping using another water based oil modified product and it seemed that Craft Coat did not perform as well. I am no expert on finishing and I have no scientific evidence to back this up, just my observation. So I started over using the product I always use and here are the results. Brown Mallee burl on TiGold Triton. Thanks for looking,

Bill

Took some new photos to try and show the shine of the finish. Some may say it doesn't compare with CA, but for me, it's comes pretty close.

Thanks for the info on the polyurethane. I agree, it might not be as shiny as CA, but on the other hand, I've had many people assume some of my wooden pens were plastic because of the CA finish.
