First, I didn't do a search for at the moment I don't have time. I am going to need a couple of cob pens by the first of September. They need to be sweet corn cobs and not field corn. I have the cobs but they are fresh so they will need to be dried. What would be the best way to do this in the shortest amount of time? And I suppose theywould be stablzed like wood blanks?

Thanks for the help!

Put them up in the attic. This time of the year it will take only a couple of days. I have not turned any sweet corn, only field corn. I don't stabilize them. I use thick CA to glue in the tube, and thin CA to saturate the ends of the blanks. That's it till I get down to within 1/32 of the bushings. I then fill any kernel pockets that are open with thick CA, and give it a quick once-over with thin CA. That's what I use for finish and that last coat before sanding gives me a head start with that.
