Confused lol

Hi guys .I am new to this forum only recently introduced to wood turning by me best friend! Have thoroughly enjoyed this new hobby come business because I have sold many of my pieces!!!
I have a question for you... I was given one of those closed end pen mandrels and am a bit confused The one I have is the smaller version with the pin to lock the tube on but using the slimline kits as recommended cannot see how the two tubes for top and bottom of the pen would work unless turned separately?
It's a puzzlement !!

They do have to be turned separately.

Generally only one piece of a pen is turned "close end". The other end needs to be open to install a nib.

I made this with the same mandrel type. Bottom half turned regularly.

Yeah, its not like the rest of us has EVER asked an obvious question.

Honestly, ask away. Anything is fair game. When I was starting out I loved when people asked obvious questions because I could actually answer them! Made me feel like I knew something.

If you only get 5 or 6 renditions of an answer, it was obvious. ON the "tough" questions, no two answers are the same.

We are a very helpful group, with lots of ways of doing the same thing!!
