Commissioned pen series - Tarzan Author

Here's kind of an unusual project for me. I was commissioned to make a series of pens from the mulberry tree under which author Edgar Rice Burroughs is buried on his estate. Burroughs is the creator of Tarzan as well as other books.

Supposedly he was buried under a ... Walnut tree... ??? (Wikipedia.)

But he had a large lot in Tarzana, CA. Many more trees ava for ...resting...

But.. the pen and box are exceptional!

If Tarzan says it is a mulberry tree, then it IS a mulberry tree! :tongue:

Maybe it is a mulberry tree with some walnuts growing on it!?!

That yellow wood did not come from a walnut. Mulberry is a nice wood to turn.

Walnut tree died some time ago. This tree is the replacement.

The box is from pennstate. I could have made one but it would have cost a lot more than the $14 they sell it for. As a side note this line of boxes is great for higher end pens.
