The bases are made from red oak and the sticks from cocobolo. They are joined with a 3/8" oak dowel epoxied in. Total height 7", bases 3 1/2"

I obviously need to work on symmetry, but I am kind of proud of my first candlesticks made without any hardware.

Question. These were turned using 3/8" roughing gouge, 1/2' oval skew and 3/8" spindle gouge. If I decide to keep making these, are there tools better suited for turning these? Not brand, but style.

Well, I ordered cocobolo, maybe they sent the wrong stuff and in my inexperience I couldn't tell the difference. But it is pretty wood, no mater what it is.

Please make allowances for my old timers' disease. I found the receipt and it is bocote. For some reason I had convinced myself I had ordered cocobolo.
