Bought a second hand turntex (older style) chamber here several months back. I've been waiting for a Craigslist deal and today is the day.

Questions - I believe there is a cap missing from the end of the handle. How important us this?

Second, my chamber came with a hose and fitting but it doesn't match up to the pump. Advice on what connector?

Thanks!

Just cosmetic reasons. Mine missing too.
This is a flared style soft cooper pipe fitting.
You can find these at most hardware stores.

The exhaust cap is only there for transporting the pump to keep the oil from spilling out. It is not needed if the pump will stay in the shop.

As for the fitting you need...it is a 45° SAE female flare to 1/4" NPT adapter. This is a very difficult fitting to find. You could cobble some parts together to get there at the hardware store or you could shoot me an e-mail through my website with your name and address and I will send you one for the cost of postage! I have close to a hundred i stock since I now provide that fitting by default with new chambers.

Thanks Curtis! I think I might just take you up on that.

By the way, I paid $50 for this pump. :)

Great price on the pump. Any Air conditioning store will have the fitting. Most are not to good for vacuums if they are the screw on and off type.
Also many of the JB pumps have a life time warranty. Many pumps are simple to rebuild. Most manufacture's will have the rebuild kits cheap.
If you come to Florida call before you stop by. I usally have some old ones around.

JB pumps have a 24 month over the counter warranty, not a life time.

Per JB's website: "Products sold by JB Industries, Inc. are warranted for a period of 12 months from the date of sale with the following exceptions:

Vacuum pumps are warranted 24 months over-the-counter."
