Thanks for comments, Todd and Ken.

I'm not very comfortable with spindle turning. Those skills need a lot of improvement. There's probably a dozen hollowed ornament bodies on the workbench waiting for finials.

Beautiful work. I found a hackberry tree down from the ice storm two years back. It is in my drying pile now. Go ahead and turn the finals. What can possibly go wrong, except possibly flying chunks. That is how I learned to TBC. One final hint,DUCK!!!

Thank you, Charles. You are right. That's the only way to learn.

I've been debating between the pad-up or duck approach. Maybe I'll start with both.

Nicely done, now the $64000 question. What do these things sell for? Any ideas?

Thanks, Tim. Our club has been donating ornaments of that style and size to Hospice. They setup a craft booth at a local mall and sell them for around $15 to $20, if I remember correctly.

I haven't sold any. The few I've made have been given away.

Tony -- they are taking a low ball price --- $40- $50 for a very well done one is the price I have seen. $20 is a steal and for a charity I hate to see low prices.
