I have not tried silver platings with pen kits. How do they compare with platinum, rhodium or chrome plating and are they durable as TI Gold? Thanks in advance for information .

I'll add Platinum and Gunmetal to Mark's list. I try to stay away from Gold unless it's Titanium Gold or just an accent that's not going to be handled very much.
About Silver, I have only done two pens with that plating, both recently, so I don't know how well it holds up.

Many plating that are not durable as metalic coatings have been "enhanced" with a thin clear coating, not dissimilar to the clearcoatings applied over paint on automobiles.
The result has been huge improvements in durability of gold and silver platings.
