I have seen ads for and mention here of cap guages. Supposedly they are for measuring the length of a blank while turning so the cap will fit properly. I am not sure what that means. The length of a blank is determined by the tube. Can somebody explain in simple terms for me please. [:I]

The cap gague is so you can measure where to make the tennon or part off material for the CB. It is not to get the overall size of the blank w/tube.

Thank You for that explanation. I was thinking the same thing as Frank and wondering just who would need one of those. now I may order one for myself.
