Yup, That is what a coworker asked my Wifey!
This lady's brother in law has an antique clock topped with 5 turned finials....actually 4 as one was missing. (This lady also turns but passed this on to me)

I had some pieces of mahogany and knocked this out for them. They were thrilled!

This was a good skills task using a 3/8" bowl gouge, skew, and parting tool. I got a close match to the original.

Nice work ... Last summer a friend of a friend ask if I could finish a post cap for a crib he was making. My buddy encouraged me to help him out, so I told him I'd give it a go ... He showed up at my shop with all the materials to make the 12 caps he needed! As politely (& quickly) as I could I told him I would be happy to show him how to use my lathe ...

Good job.

I have learned that matching shapes is usually easier or much easier than matching finish and appearance.

Thanks for the replies!

The finishing is on them. I turned the piece and sent some additional mahogany for them to test stains and finishes.

I would much rather turn than try to match a stain and finish.
