 I have finally gotten pretty good with CA finish, but every now and then when I assemble the pen I get what I think is a finish shatter or a "crunch" of the CA at the end of the pen.

How do I avoid this problem? I am using just CA is CA/BLO more flexible? It is really annoying to turn a sweet looking pen into one that I have to return ( to get the old CA off) because the CA shatters at the ends.

Also I am using the CA accelerator, does that make the finish more brittle?

Thanks Schtick

Flush sand the blanks after finish but before assembly. Also, make sure the inside of the tube is clean and de-burred(a router chamfering bit is what I use).

If an assembly feels tight when presssing then it more than likely will expand the tube and crack the finish. It is a feel thing after awhile. Also make sure you are pressing the parts evenly.
