I guess this kind of goes here.

I'm looking at getting a buffing system this time around and I'm wondering if most of you buff the platings on your pens, or only the barrels?

Same here.. just the barrels but use two different buffing systems depending on the material. The Beal buffing system works great and I also use a Foredom buffing system that I use for lapidary and precious metal work.

I know all about buffing systems and the other stuff guys. I used to work for Dayton Wire Wheel buffing wheel hoops for a summer during college.

My main inquiry was about the platings on the kits and if anyone had experience in buffing those or if most people just buffed the shaft.

Some pens I see posted the findings are perfectly shiny and not one scratch to be seen, Others either have fingerprints or glue or scratches in them.
