Mike came down from Ghent, New York to pay a visit. We made a pen and this is his first attempt. He wanted something from Texas so Mesquite was picked as the wood. It is his wife who donated the horse hair. My first attempt failed miserably.

I would enjoy repeating your comments to Mike (I think).

Great first pen - that's a wild shape! How well does the clip work with the nub end hanging out in space like that?

Hey John,

Tell Mike he did an awesome job for a first timer, it looks better than some stuff out there that I've seen from turners.
I think it might be because he hails from the "GREAT STATE of NEW YORK"
I think the mesquite is a great choice. I see that you used a slimline, you can put a little bend in the clip if you use 2 pairs of pliers and cover the clip with a rag, but only a litttle bit so as not to crack the black filler in the clip.
