Boxelder burl infused with bronze, green and flaming red. This piece had been eaten at by the bugs. Placed on a Hybrid Cigar. The finish is CA buffed to great shine. I have a bunch more ready for the pressure pot and can't wait to get more results like this.

Very nice looking pen/blank you have there. I think it turned out really nice. Definitely looks good on the hybrid kit for sure.

Well done Eric,

Has the temperature had any affect on the mixing and casting for you? I have found that the higher temps are causing the Alumilite to set up much faster than normal now.

Keep up the good work.

This Burl was so eaten up be ants and bugs it will be interesting to see what he can get out of it. The hole center was honey combed and gone. What a challenge. I just saw this one in person and it sure had a lot of color and character. I never expected to see such a beautiful pen out of it.

That's a great looking pen. If you want to sell some blanks of that let me know!

I will be making more blanks over the next few days from the boxelder I have, if you'd like you can even chose colors. As I work through the wood, there are some pieces like tgis and some that will be with much resin.

Great job Eric! Are you using the pressure pot to insure all the bubbles are out of the voids?

I do use my trusty HF pressure pot. Trusty because I don't overdo it on the pressure. There were some tiny voids I filled with CA.

Well done Eric,

I have the benefit of air conditioning in my basement shop. Warm in the winter, cool in the summer, and spoiled year around.

I like to see this type of work, it really gives something quite "different" to look at.

These are the pieces of wood that I call, "wood with character", put in a pen and finished to perfection, is undoubtedly a "goer" for the sale...!

Well done, mate...!

Cheers
George

Pretty piece of BE. You did a great job with the pen .. is the silver a fill or did you cast the blank first?

I did some casting. My wise father talked a guy into giving us this burl ball that was half eaten by ants and bugs. Who would want such an ugly beat up piece of wood?
