Hey guys,
I got influenced by the guy who's making boxes and got a chuck my goal is to turn some during the summer.
I am not entirely happy with that one but I think the result is not so bad.
So it started with a really big banksia pod and it was my first time turning that material. I have no carbide tools and really cheap tools. (the kind you buy on eBay where you have 10 tools for 40$)
That thing is finished with renaissance wax and was sanded to 600 before.
A few things learned:
Thanks for looking,
Charles

A few things learned:
- It hard and you better take your time with sketchy tools.
- Banksia is hairy and it stings you while turning.
- When you think your done giving it a haircut it still has hair.
- It's holes were filled with cocoons?!
- It's better to tight up the chuck good, flying banksias is something you should avoid.
- Hollowing this stuff with pen turning tools is a bad idea.
