I made this redheart bottle stopper as a wedding present for my brother. His name is Diamond, so I put the gem at the top.

Nice job. I'm sure he will love it! Real diamond?:)

It is a genuine Las Vegas diamond. They told me so when I bought it. They are much cheaper than regular diamonds, but harder to come by because you can only get them in Las Vegas.

Now I just need to come up with a decent box to put it in.

As a side note, it is redheart, which does NOT tap well. It does epoxy real good though.

I learned that when doing bottle stoppers that if it isnt harder than cocobolo you probably can just hand threa it on to you lathe and it make its own threads. Looks great.

I tried that first, as I had good success doing that with Cocobolo, but I just couldn't get it going with this piece.

The starter threads on my tap would work, but once they got to full depth, the wood just shredded. There was enough thread in it to hold the stopper in place while the epoxy set, so I am happy with it.
