This wood was going to be a bowl but it split after rough turning. Being a cheap b***tard, I had to salvage something from it, so I went to work with the bandsaw. I liked the look of the crosscut pieces. This one came from right next to the pith. I have a couple more like it and now that I see it finished, I know what pen I'm going to use them on.

So what's the wood? Grows in the U.S.:confused::confused:

Perhaps something fruity?

Crosscut apple maybe....doesn't matter, although I can only image what the bowl would be worth if it hadn't cracked.

Stolicky Got It--Macadamia, from Hawaii

The wood is really weird and different. Has a pinkish brown hue and crazy chatoyance in the heartwood. I'll take a picture of the two blanks I have left and post them because you need to see the stuff unfinished. Sometimes you can find macadamia on eBay.

I think it looks like cross cut sycamore.

Edit: well I thought it did until I seen the top picture of that stopper. Now Im not so sure. Good luck!
